In addition to honey near Tuapse, there are other caves in which bees do not live. There are about 40 of them in the surrounding mountains. However, you need to visit the caves only if accompanied by an experienced specialist. A cave in Mount Nebeb - Bolshaya Krivenkovskaya, for example, is a tunnel resembling a railway. Its width is 3-4 meters, height 6 meters, length 22 meters.
Several caves available to tourists are located on Mount Turkey. Their character is somewhat different. One carries traces of the primitive man's presence, notches made by some ancient weapon are visible on the walls. Caves of the mountain Two brothers represent large niches in the rock. Also very interesting are the Tsipkinskaya stalactite and St. George's caves.

We visited the Tsypkinsky stalactite cave on June 12, 2018 (they returned to Rostov after a rest in Asha, decided to go through the Shaumyansky pass and look at this beauty at the same time). The road leads from the village of Tsypka along the Tsypka River. We drove straight to the cave by car. This cave is a small grotto :)), water is pouring actively from the ceiling and walls. My husband and I carefully crawled into it and stood up to its full height. She is beautiful, all in streaked formations of different shapes and colors :)) If you are in those parts, take a look in passing here.

Photo and description
Mount Turkey, which contains the caves of the same name, is located twenty kilometers from the city of Tuapse. In total, there are about forty different caves in the Tuapse region, many of which are accessible for tourists.
The rocky crest of Mount Turkey is clearly visible from the window of trains heading towards Krasnodar. The name of the mountain comes from the Adyghe word "hinikushh", which means "mountain of Indians", that is, the mountain of the people of Asia, Indians. The height of the mountain is 856 meters, on its surface there are many spherical depressions resembling a honeycomb, or made of stone gratings. But the main attraction and distinction of the caves of Mount Turkey, thanks to which they are so popular among visitors and archaeologists from around the world, is that traces of the presence of ancient people were discovered here. On the walls and arches of the caves, notches and primitive drawings are still visible.
In the course of geological studies, it was found that Mount Turkey is an underwater volcano that erupted at this place 175 million years ago. At the top of the mountain you can find centuries-old pine trees, chestnuts, oaks and wildflowers grow at its base.
Today, anyone can visit the caves of the Turkey. To do this, you can use the services of one of the many travel agencies, or hire a guide. Self-climbing is not recommended.
Where is the mountain located in the Krasnodar Territory?
Altitude is found in the southeastern half of the Tuapse district - 200 meters from the source of that eastern branch of the Bukepka River, which flows into it in the center of the village of Turkey. The settlement itself lies a kilometer south of the junction of the railway tracks leading from Krasnodar and Armavir. Tuapse is 40 km from the point of interest.
On a map of Tuapse, Turkey is like this:
History of the rise
The “breakaways” from the Caucasian ridge of spurs and outliers are most precisely in the territory of the Tuapse region. Mount Turkey has once also left the main array.
The etymology of its name is very interesting. The fact is that the ancestors of the Circassians called the Indo-Iranian neighbors (Sinds) the word "hini." The indicated peak was apparently named in honor of the fact that it was here that a trade exchange took place between Iranian-speaking and Adyghe tribes. By the time the Russians arrived, the toponym already sounded like "ini." But our ancestors noticed the strange shape of the peak - it resembled the head of some kind of poultry. So the word "ini" was transformed into a longer one - "turkey".
Later - thanks to erosion processes - the configuration of the rock changed. But the name remains, because it has already been recorded on many topographic maps.
Hiking to Mount Turkey: routes
A turkey attracts both “one-day” trekkers and “tents”. Many of them practice rock climbing. For climbers, it will be important to know that the top point of the mountain is at around 859 m above sea level. One of the suitable (for rope lifting) steep cliffs is dotted with holes. As a result, the locals called it Cheese.
A smaller fragment is “glued” to the main stone mass - Turkey. There is a smaller outlier - Turkey. Between them lie picturesque deep logs, covered with beautiful vegetation - hornbeam, chestnut, beech, oak, juniper. Closer to the top comes across fir and Black Sea pine. By the way, rare animals live here.
Basically, the trail runs along the stream and power lines. You can drink local water if you forgot to replenish supplies. For some time there is a private building along the spring - a settlement settlement. Other memorable landmarks - huge stones blocking the passage to the goal in some places - these are traces of mountain collapses. Especially terrible echo gives here the quietest spring thunder. Acoustics, as they say, on top!
The silhouettes of these rocks are rather mysterious. In them you can see everything that your heart desires. Climbers note that the peaks are similar to various animals. Some of them are hidden by too large a layer of bright greenish moss, as well as interesting recesses that look like bathtubs. Such a surface relief was formed under the influence of rain, sun and wind. The process went on for millions of years.
People from all over Russia come here who decide to capture themselves against the backdrop of beauty. Others are interested in a small Orthodox church and several shallow caves located at the bottom of the main rock massif. The cavities are affected by small leaky formations. They are clearly visible on the arches.
Another important information: the most favorable time for the conquest of Turkey is mid-April - end of June. The same perfect trip will be obtained from September to the end of October. In the remaining months, the surface is icy - it becomes slippery. Adventure lovers need to buy water and food already in the village. Turkey. Those who go to the more northern stations should already have everything necessary for a hike.
How to get (get there)?
In Krasnodar, take the train and get to the 1860 km railway station (the village of Indyuk). There is also a way from the station "Turkey" (Armavir). From these platforms, winding primers, consisting of several intertwined “car visits”, lead to the foot. On the "highway" from the village will have to stomp 1,5 hours - to equipped camping (the route goes through a dense forest). The alpine track takes another 15 minutes. The climbers will take the same time - on a rope climb along the plumb lines.
By car, you can reach the mountain in this way:
- Address: p. Turkey, Tuapse, Krasnodar Territory, Russia.
- Coordinates: 44.240556, 39.275000.
Come to the mountain Tuapse. Mount Turkey is captured in dozens of photos taken by tourists. The shots included the objects described above - the temple and caves. Pictures will inspire even more adventurers on a unique journey into the picturesque cliffs.

|Suburban train||Art. Turkey, then walk along a trail that starts near the station (about 3 km on the way).|
Mount Turkey is a natural attraction of the Tuapse region, located in the Black Sea forest reserve. The distance from Tuapse is about 35–40 km.
The main peak (859-meter mountain of Turkey), as well as many outlier cliffs, enter the massif.
The place is also popular with hikers and climbers. Some rocks managed to get "folk" names: these are Turkey rocks (near the top of Turkey) and Turkey (a smaller rock, "hiding" behind Turkey).
The reserve attracts attention with the beauty of landscapes, the richness of flora and fauna. Oaks, beeches, hornbeams grow at the foot and on the slopes, sometimes coniferous trees are found. Wild boars and striped raccoons live in these places.

How to get to Turkey Mountain
